PRIVACY POLICY AND USER AGREEMENT

At Recycle Coach, we collect information to provide better products, services, and experiences for all of our users – from determining your location in order to provide tailored recycling and disposal information, to device-specific information for sending custom notifications, to anonymized usage data for improving product usability; we only collect the data necessary to provide services to you and to improve our product.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT, HOW WE COLLECT IT, AND WHY:

We may collect several types of information from and about users of our Website and mobile applications (“Apps”), including information:

– by which you may be personally identified, such as your name, street address, e-mail address, social media handles, phone number, gender, date of birth, and other identifying information that you choose to share with us securely (“personal information”); and

– that is about you but individually does not independently identify you, such as technical information about your Internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Website and Apps and other usage details.

We collect this information:

– directly from you when you provide it to us securely (e.g. when joining our mailing list or by signing up to receive collection reminders via in-app notifications, email, phone, or SMS, or social media handles);

– automatically, as you navigate through our Website and Apps. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, domain servers, web browser type, and information collected through cookies, and is used to provide support, improve our products, and to display personalized content such as calendars and collection information; and

– directly from you when you register your User Account (as defined and discussed in further detail below).

IN SHORT: we collect some personal information from you (if/when you choose to share this information with us) in order to provide accurate and personalized content and services. PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE TO US WILL NOT BE SOLD, RENTED, OR LEASED TO THIRD PARTIES FOR ANY REASON. We also occasionally collect non-identifying information about you for analytics purposes, in order to improve your experience while using our Website and Apps.

USER ACCOUNTS

In order to personalize the content that you will receive from us, we require that users create a user account (your “User Account”).  You can do so by using your email address, in which case you will be prompted to create a password.  You also have the option of creating your User Account through your Facebook, Google, or Apple account.  If you register your User Account through your Facebook, Google or Apple account, we may receive your gender and date of birth from the applicable third party.

Users that began using our services prior to the implementation of User Accounts are encouraged to create a User Account to enhance their experience, and may be required to do so in the future. These users will also be required to do so upon using a new phone number in association with accessing our services.

HOW WE STORE AND PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION:

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us through the Website, your User Account, and Apps is secured by SSL technology and is stored on our secure, password protected servers behind firewalls, which are located in secure Tier 4 hosting facilities in the United States. We have implemented restricted employee access for all of our servers containing personally identifiable information, and conduct recurring staff training on relevant security practices. All personal information that we receive is encrypted, stored and handled in a manner that is fully compliant with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation.

IN SHORT: we take various steps to ensure the security of your personal information, including limiting employee’s access to sensitive data, encrypting and backing up the data, and using SSL technology for our Website, User Account, and Apps. We use industry-leading security and hosting standards and protocols to ensure the safety and integrity of your data.

THIRD-PARTY POLICIES AND DISCLOSURE:

We may share certain categories of information we collect from you in the ways described in this Privacy Policy in order to provide services and improve our products and services. For example, location data is shared with Google Inc. via the Google Maps API to help find your address and/or to find, display, and provide directions to waste depots or other locations. Moreover, contact information is shared with Twilio and Amazon Web Services to allow us to provide our customers with timely updates and information. We do not process payments directly. The information we collect for credit or debit card payments will not be held by us, but rather by a third-party payment processer.

We may also receive certain personal information from your Google, Facebook or Apple account(s) when your User Account is opened through these third-party accounts.  We will not share that information with any other party, and it will be used solely to help us personalize and enhance the services we provide to you.

For the purposes of improving our product and services, we may share anonymized usage data we collect automatically (as described above) with other third parties on an aggregate only (i.e., non-personally identifiable) basis.

We may occasionally provide our services in partnership with your local government and/or waste management company. By using our software and services and providing us with your personal information, you consent to our sharing this data with your local government and/or waste management company. We may sell, rent, or lease non-identifying technical information and analytics to third parties, but this information will never include any personal or identifiable information about you.

We may be required to disclose your personal information to comply with any and all applicable legal or regulatory requirements, to comply with legal processes, subpoenas, courts orders, or any legitimate request made by a governmental authority or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against any claim, and as part of our efforts to keep the users of our Website and Apps safe, including to protect the rights, privacy, and safety of our employees and users.

IN SHORT: We do not share your data with any third parties except for the purposes of providing and improving our services, except as outlined here. We never share your personal or identifiable information for the purposes of advertising or monetization. Your data may be shared with your local government and/or waste management company.

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY:

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you by a notice on the Website home page and an in-App notification. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page.

BY USING THE WEBSITE AND/OR APPS, YOU ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY IN ITS ENTIRETY WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATION. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE OUR SERVICES OR SOFTWARE.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:

We make no guarantee as to security, integrity, or confidentiality of any information transmitted to or from our Website or Apps, or stored within our Website or Apps. Beyond our reasonable care to safeguard your information while in transit, we do not guarantee the absolute security of electronic communications or transmissions since any transmission made over the Internet by any individual runs the risk of interception.

You assume the sole risk associated with transmitting your personal information as it relates to the use of the Website and/or Apps, and any data corruptions, intentional interceptions, intrusions or unauthorized access to personal information, or any delays or interruptions to the use of our Website and/or Apps. In no event shall we be liable for any direct, indirect, special, consequential or monetary damages, including fees and penalties of any kind in connection with your use of the services or software provided by the Website and/or Apps or connectivity to or from the Website and/or Apps to any other site.

QUESTIONS AND COMPLAINTS:

We take privacy questions and complaints seriously. If you have questions or concerns about the collection, use, or disclosure of data and personal information, what personal information you have previously provided to us, or wish to register a complaint or violation of this Privacy Policy, please contact our privacy officer at: privacy@recyclecoach.com, and we will use reasonable care to respond to your question, concern as promptly as possible.

Where you have provided your consent to the collection, use, and transfer of your personal information, you may have the legal right to withdraw your consent under certain circumstances. To withdraw your consent, if applicable, contact us at the e-mail above. Please note that if you withdraw your consent we may not be able to provide you with a particular product or service. We will explain the impact to you at the time to help you with your decision.
