Can I recycle egg cartons?

Some egg cartons are recyclable; it depends on what they are made from. Paper egg cartons are accepted in almost every local program, whereas polystyrene foam egg cartons-you might know them as Styrofoam cartons-are typically disposed of in the garbage. Clear plastic egg cartons are tricky, as many programs accept them, and many do not. If you’re not sure what the rule is in your community, it’s better to play it safe and put it in the garbage.
