Can I recycle grocery-type plastic shopping bags?

Grocery-type plastic bags are not accepted in most local recycling programs, although some do accept them if you stuff all bags into a single bag and tie the handles. Check to see what your municipality wants you to do, and if you’re not sure, it’s better to be safe and dispose of plastic grocery bags in the garbage.

Did you know? Most grocery stores and large retailers have a ‘take back’ program for plastic grocery-type bags. They even accept ones from other stores.
